How To Dunk on NBA 2K My Career
I’ve read on forums, Yahoo Answers, and Facebook many times of questions regarding
NBA 2K's Career mode and one of the most frequently asked is how to make their player
dunk.Well, I feel you too guys. I went through that wondering too after I created my
player. I even needed two seasons (I kept on simulating) before I figured this out. Here
how you do it.
The Short Days

When you start a new My Career, most abilities and attributes are locked depending on
your player’s position and default skills. For instance, if you picked a shooting guard or a
point guard and an all- around player, most of your player's attributes would be half-
full. When you look for his dunk and standing dunk attribute, they are most likely at
level 25, a long way to go. That means your player can’t dunk no matter how open he is
for a slam.When you look for his dunks and lay ups under signature, lay up package is
what only available, with all dunk packages set to none and can’t be edited (for now). I
don’t know if this dunking issue also applies for small forward, power forward and center
position. But it’s unlikely because of the positions’ common height.
Earn Skill Points

earned every time you finish a game. It is spent for
various upgrades such as animation purchasing,
attributes and signature, among others. There are
many options to spend your SP but this time, use
it to upgrade on dunk, standing dunk, vertical
attribute. You can find standing dunk and dunk
under offense attribute and vertical under physical
attribute. Aside from dunk, vertical also improves
player’s ability of crashing the boards. You earn
more SP if you play every game greatly- complete
task, challenges and graded by team mates higher.
Once you reach the required levels for standing dunk, dunk and vertical, the dunk packages
will now be available for you to edit and use. The vertical attribute also improves player's
ability to crash the board. When I upgraded it to maximum, from 3 rebounds per game,
my player averaged 6 rebounds right after the season ended.
After I reached level 85 for standing dunk and level
40 dunk attribute, I wondered why he still didn’t
dunk in the game right after I upgraded. In the
middle of the game, I intercepted a pass and drove
straight to the basket. The excitement for my player’s
first dunk became amazement when he just finger
rolled the ball in. I realized that I had to customize
my player- again.
Here’s how to activate his dunking skill. On the
Career mode menu, go to Player, Edit Player, then
under Dunks and Lay ups, choose your dunk
packages and activate them. There are plenty of
dunk packages to choose from. But if you have more SP, you can make his dunk more
impressive by purchasing dunks such as the Historic Jordan. But if you would like to
save it for much expensive upgrades, you can pick default dunks such as the Basic One-
handers off Two, they're enough.
On your next game, you would now be able to
dunk at some points in the game, most likely off
an opponent’s turnover. Just be noted that even if
all required upgrades are at maximum,he would
still choose to lay up sometimes for instance,
when he drives through heavy traffic and/ or
tight defense.
